Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley

Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley
Dream Man Series, Book 4
Publisher: Forever (December 2012)
412 pages, eBook (purchased myself for $3.79)
Book Rating: 5 Stars
Sensuality: Red Heart

A toxic work environment forced Tyra (Red/Cherry) out of her steady job/boring existence and her attempt at taking a walk on the wild side goes very wrong when she finds herself being a one-night stand for the first time in her life, Tack being none too gentle about the dismissal. Not only that, but she is to start her new job the next day with Tack as her new boss. Tack and his world can be harsh, but he was on the noble end of harsh, in my opinion, so though he wasn't always easy to like, once his reasons for doing things were revealed, he always had good redeeming reasons for what he was doing. I absolutely loved Tyra! Aside from her stupid mistake in the beginning, I found her very easy to relate to as the typical "good girl" type thrown completely unprepared into the biker world. This story includes characters from the previous three books in this series as well as the Rock Chick series. This book leads to a spin-off series about the Chaos MC, the first book of which, Own the Wind, is due out in April. I can't wait!

Law Man by Kristen Ashley

Law Man by Kristen Ashley
Dream Man Series, Book 3
Publisher: Forever (December 2012)
412 pages, eBook (purchased myself for $3.79)
Book Rating: 4 Stars
Sensuality: Red Heart

Mara's had a serious crush on her neighbor, Mitch, for four years, and when her bathroom faucet breaks events finally align to give her a shot with him, not realizing that he is plenty interested himself, but at the same time her troublesome cousin brings problems her way, leaving her responsible for his kids and though Mitch is willing to help, Mara's got difficulty accepting it. Mara frustrated me. I understand she had trust and self-esteem issues from her past, but it was like an unbreakable brick wall that got annoying at times, even for Mitch with his saintly patience in dealing with it. Mitch was great. He could be forceful and rude, but when sweet wasn't getting through, I don't think he had much choice. Once Mitch got through to Mara, she was alright, but still a little spacey for my taste. Still a great story and I loved the relationship Mitch had with the kids, it was sweet. This included a few appearances from Hawk & Gwen and her crew, Slim & Tess, Tack & Chaos, and the men from the Rock Chick series. The last book in this series is Motorcycle Man, about Tack.

Highlander Most Wanted by Maya Banks

Highlander Most Wanted by Maya Banks
The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, Book 2
Publisher: Ballantine Books (March 2013)
370 pages, eBook (purchased myself for $7.99)
Book Rating: 5 Stars
Sensuality: Red Heart

Genevieve's only hope to escape the hell she'd suffered at the hands of Ian McHugh and his clan, was the arrival of the Montgomerys and Armstrongs to visit their wrath upon the McHughs for the abuse inflicted by Ian on Laird Montgomery's wife. Bowen leads the charge in his brother's stead and instead of finding the object of their wrath, he finds a clan in need of help and leadership and he claims it for the Montgomerys in his brother's name, eventually becoming Genevieve's protector as well. Genevieve was such a strong, ennobled character, and it was easy to be drawn to her. I liked that Bowen didn't fight his feelings for long, because there was plenty to overcome without that difficulty as well, and though his altruistic gesture in the end was heartbreaking, it only made the ending better. I look forward to reading Brodie and Taliesan's story in the next book in this series, Highland Ever After, due out September 2013!

The Highlander's Warrior Bride by Eliza Knight

The Highlander's Warrior Bride by Eliza Knight
The Stolen Bride Series, Book 4
Publisher: Eliza Knight (March 2013)
231 pages, eBook (purchased myself for $4.99)
Book Rating: 5 Stars
Sensuality: Red Heart

Ronan is a warrior committed to king and country with no room in his life for love, and Julianna has resigned herself to never marrying given her role as the king's protector, but the more they are thrown together, both begin to think that giving up love is one sacrifice they may not wish to make. Ronan and Julianna are both strong, passionate characters and it was fun to see them battle together as they faced the king's enemies. They make such a good warrior team, and it was cool to see a warrior interact with a woman as an equal in the face of danger, instead of just being the savior all the time. Their light, easy banter was amusing and I felt they had great chemistry together. I look forward to reading the next book in this series, The Highlander's Triumph, about Brandon and Mariana, due out June 2013!

Wild Man by Kristen Ashley

Wild Man by Kristen Ashley
Dream Man Series, Book 2
Publisher: Forever (December 2012)
375 pages, eBook (purchased myself for $3.79)
Book Rating: 5 Stars
Sensuality: Red Heart

Tess has been dating a man named Jake for months, then shortly after sleeping with him for the first time gets hauled in by the police in the middle of the night and finds out Jake was actually an undercover agent, named Brock Lucas or "Slim", and it was all part of an investigation involving her ex-husband. Months later Brock approaches her, looking to makeup and continue on with the relationship, claiming that it was real for him and not a lie, and after thinking over his actions, she takes him back. I loved this story! Once they get past the upheaval in the beginning, there is no unnecessary misunderstandings or wedges to drive them apart, just two people with horrible exes pulling together to be there for each other as their world comes down around them. I wouldn't normally comment on it, but there was a lot of swearing in this. I did feel it was in character for Brock, so it didn't bother me, but it may be a problem for some. There were a few appearances from Hawk and Mitch Lawson from the first book in this series, as well as some of the men from the Rock Chick series, which was cool. The next book in this series is Law Man, about Mitch Lawson.

Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley

Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley
Dream Man Series, Book 1
Publisher: Forever (December 2012)
400 pages, eBook (purchased myself for $3.79)
Book Rating: 4 Stars
Sensuality: Red Heart

Gwen has been receiving night visits off and on from a nameless lover, that she calls Mystery Man, for over a year and a half, but when her sister's troubles fall on her, she find out her Mystery Man is known as Hawk, knows everything about her and he has claimed her publicly, determined to protect her. Just as she learns Mystery Man's identity and becomes less certain about continuing the so-called relationship, two other men appear on the scene, Detective Lawson and Tack (head of the Chaos MC) and it suddenly appears the options are endless, but Hawk has other ideas. I wasn't sure about Gwen at first, because she is a bit ditzy, but in a strangely entertaining way, which grew on me. I wish she would have made better decisions and it seemed dumb to fight the protection she obviously needed, but I kind of got the feeling that if she had been smarter about things the guys wouldn't have been as interested, which gives me pause. Hawk was full out dominate alpha male and he was great except for the part where he dropped her just when she needed him the most. Luckily he redeemed himself. The triangle with the other men was amusing and there were brief appearances from characters from the Rock Chick series. Great Story with lots of action! The next book in this series is Wild Man, about Brock Lucas (Gwen's DEA agent kidnapper, Skull).

Wee William's Woman by Suzan Tisdale

Wee William's Woman by Suzan Tisdale
The Clan MacDougall Series, Book 3
Publisher: Suzan Tisdale (March 2013)
389 pages, eBook (purchased myself for $2.99)
Book Rating: 4 Stars
Sensuality: Pink Heart

Nora is married to a horrible sadistic man and is glad to see Wee William and his group of highlanders arrive one night on a mission. They agree to help set her free from her husband and his two brothers, as well as help her to get her siblings back and bring them all back to Scotland with them. I really liked both Wee William and Nora. They were easy characters to like and I found their story very engaging. A good deal of the second half of the book concentrated on other couples (Nial & Bree, Rowan & Kate), almost to the point that I thought Wee William and Nora's part of the story must be finished, but we did come back to revisit them in the end for the dramatic rescue and rectification of the past. I enjoyed the little update on most everyone in the epilogue. I do hope we hear a bit more of Nial and Bree, since very little of their story was incorporated with this one. And I hope that at some point Black Richard and Caelen McDunnah will have their own stories! The next book in this series is Rowan's Lady, expected out Fall 2013.
