J. T.’s mother had picked out a bride for him, from among the young ladies at the orphanage she volunteers at, and he was looking forward to starting a life of his own with his new bride, away from the family ranch and the hustle and bustle of his large family, but Annie shows up for the wedding with a young boy in tow, and J. T. realizes he won’t be getting the quiet life he imagined now that he has a ready-made family, but dangers threatening from Annie’s past make him realize what’s important. Sweet historical western romance. I would have liked to see a bit more development of the relationship between J. T. and Annie, but this was a very short story. Entertaining short read.
