Rachel thought she’d met the man who would make all her dreams come true and quickly became engaged to him, but he wasn’t what he seemed and with nowhere to go and no one to turn to she ended up accepting a teaching position in the small town of Sand Hill. Chance had lost his wife years before in childbirth, and never thought to find love again, but when he sees the new schoolteacher he wonders if he may get another chance. Rachel and Chance were great together, thrown together as they were by Rachel’s circumstances, and I liked that Chance seemed determined to stand by her no matter what came their way. They face so many external threats in this story, I was beginning to feel a bit sorry for poor Chance, having to run around and save people all the time—but it was adventurous. Claire and Nathan from the first book in this series figure significantly in this story and it was nice to see them again. Good read and I look forward to reading Suzanna’s story in Wounded Hearts!
