In this second glimpse into the legend of the gifted MacKay women we meet the next generation’s gifted one, Alera, a niece of Hope from Highland Treasure. Alera, a young woman as spirited and adventurous as her aunt, has been sold to Viking slavers by her evil Uncle Mortimer. She manages to escape and is rescued by Laird Duncan Ranald shortly after she wades ashore. She eventually realizes that Duncan means to keep her, but she refuses to wed him for as long as she can hold him off, determined that she find her father. The characters and story were great and had as much depth as the first wonderful book by this author, Highland Treasure. The chemistry and constant banter between the two main characters as they fall in love with each other is wonderful. I look forward to the next two installments in this wonderful Sisters by Choice Series.
